Lavender Baking Powder Biscuits
A beautiful complement to any luncheon!
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon dried lavender buds
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 Tablespoon sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 cup milk
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
2. Mix together all dry ingredients.
3. Mix in butter.
4. Add milk all at once and mix with fork until just moistened.
5. Dump onto lightly floured surface and knead or fold 4 or 5 times just until dough holds together.
6. Gently pat dough down to about 3/4 of an inch thick.
7. Cut into about 10 squares. Don't use cookie cutter as it can toughen the dough the more you handle it.
8. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned.
