Basic Lavender Potpourri

Basic Lavender Potpourri

This is a fresh and clean lavender potpourri that is excellent for bathrooms or linen closets.  The variations listed give it other textures and scents that you can use almost anywhere.



Ingredients:

1 quart lavender blossoms

3 Tablespoons orris root

10 drops lavender essential oil

Instructions:

Mix well and let stand for 3 weeks.

Basic Lavender Potpourri

Variations:

I. Blue/Floral Potpourri:  Add to base mixture:

1 cup dried lilac flowers

1 cup dried larkspur flowers

1 cup dried cornflowers

1 cup any other flowers for additional color

1 cup rose petals for fragrance

1 additional quart lavender flowers

3 additional Tablespoons orris root

10 more drops lavender essential oil

Basic Blue/Floral Potpourri with other Flowers and Leaves for Color and Fragrance

II.  Spicy Warmth Potpourri:  Add to base mixture:

1 Tablespoon of ground cloves--adds a spicy touch

III.  Sweet Refreshment Potpourri:  Add to base mixture:

1/2 cup ground vanilla beans--sweetens the blend

VI.  Fresh & Lively Potpourri:  Add to base mixture:

1 cup dried bergamot leaves

1 cup dried mint leaves--these add fresh liveliness
